Word of the Day: Perspicuous

While reading Religion and the Rise of Modern Science for my Philosophy of Science class, I stumbled upon the word perspicuous, which I did not know yet:

Huygens emphasised that Descartes was wrong in supposing that the fundamental notions of mechanics are wholly perspicuous to reason.

(Hooykaas 1972, 44)

The Internet’s favourite dictionary gives the definition

plain to the understanding especially because of clarity and precision of presentation
